Introduction To The Intermediate Guide On Nissan Qashqai Key Fob

Reasons Why Your Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Won't Work

The Qashqai has a distinctly SUV-like feel due to its larger dimensions. Moreover, the ride on 19-inch wheels in Ti and ST-L models may be a bit firm at times. The front tyres of Qashqai can also lose grip on rough surfaces, and the CVT may occasionally show wrist-flexing torque steering.

It is usually due to the battery being dead that can be replaced in a matter of minutes. Make sure the replacement battery is of the same size, voltage and specification.

Water Damage

One of the most frequent reasons a Nissan key fob will give the "key ID is not correct" message is due to water damage. The key fob is fitted with rubber seals which protect the chip inside, but long-term exposure to moisture can cause it to cease functioning properly. This is typically the case when you drop your key fob in the ocean or a pool water pool, but it could happen when it's wet due to soapy hands or rain.

If your key fob has been exposed to water for an extended period of time, you may need to clean it with isopropyl, or an electronic cleaner. It might also need to be sent to a specialist to repair or replace it.

If your key fob has to be replaced, it is an easy process. First, ensure that you have a multipack with the correct battery (CR2032 3V). Then open the back and front cases using an abrasive screwdriver. You'll have to remove the metal retaining clips and remove the old battery and insert the new one. Reassemble the fob and replace the mechanical key. Verify that it is working properly. If not it, you'll need to bring it to a Nissan dealer or professional auto locksmith to replace the key chip. Fortunately, the chip is not normally damaged by exposure to water and therefore this shouldn't be a huge expense.

Dead Coin Battery

The coin battery is a second common reason that your Nissan Qashqai remote key fob might not function.  The KeyLab  for 3 to 5 years, but they can become depleted over time, particularly if the fob is dropped frequently. You can try replacing the battery with a new one but be sure it's the same size and voltage as the original. If you're using another battery, it may cause the key to have an incorrect key ID which can prevent it from pairing with your vehicle.

The most efficient method to change the battery of a coin in the Nissan Qashqai Key Fob is to pry it open with an incredibly small screwdriver. The screwdriver needs to be inserted into a small hole on the bottom of your key fob. Make sure to gently twist the screwdriver to split the two halves. Then, take out the old CR2025 button cell battery and insert another one after confirming its location on the fob.

Before you put the new battery in ensure that there is no dirt or water damage on the terminals. If this is the case clean the terminals with small amounts of isopropyl alcohol. You'll also want to ensure that the pole cables are plugged in correctly - they should be connected to the negative and positive poles of your battery, respectively.

Fault Diagnosis

If your Nissan Qashqai's primary fob doesn't function after being exposed to clean tap or rain water it could be a sign that there is a problem with the internal chip. You'll require a new keyfob if you can't solve the issue by replacing the battery. If you dropped the key fob on the ground and it stopped working right away, this is most likely because it damaged the internal chip. You can usually get the key fob to function once more if you remove and clean the chip using paper towel and isopropyl alcohol and then put it back into.

One common error you might see on your car's dashboard is "Key ID Not Correct." This means that the vehicle cannot recognize the key fob and not allow it to start the engine. The problem can be caused by a variety of factors, including water damage, undetectable issues in the key fob's circuitry, or RFID interference.

If the battery that powers 12 volts on your key fob is broken or is not supplying enough electrical current it will cease to function. This can affect the remote keyless system and central locking on your Nissan Qashqai, as well as hindering you from starting your engine with the key fob (if equipped with Intelligent Key). If you're unable to lock or unlock the door manually it is recommended to check the batteries inside the key fob to make sure they're in good shape. Try replacing the battery to reset your transmitter.

Reprogramming

If the key fob was not submerged in saltwater it should be able to come back to life with a simple wash of clean water. You can also try cleaning the electronic chip using isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner. If these methods don't work it could be time to replace the entire key fob with an entirely new one.

If your Nissan Intelligent Key is still not functioning, there may be an issue with the connection between it and the car. To reconnect it, begin by turning the key in the ignition without starting the car. Continue to do this until the hazard lights flash twice. Then, turn the car off and take away the keys.

Then, you need to then open the fob compartment in your vehicle. It's usually located in a door jamb on the handle on the driver's side or under the armrest. Locate the small button labeled "program" and press it. When the process is complete, you should hear the sound of a chime.

It's time to put your Intelligent Key to the test. Stand some distance away from the vehicle, and press all the buttons on it. If the lights flash and the horn squeaks it means the key has successfully linked to the Nissan. You can also test it close to the Nissan.
